KENOSHA, WI – Kenosha officials and business owners got a tour of the new Theater Terrace apartment building, 5945 Sixth Ave., during a event Thursday which dedicated the 61-unit apartment structure Downtown.

Joe Stanton, vice president of investments with project developer Three Leaf Partners, said prices for a one-bedroom apartment average about $1,700 a month, while two bedrooms start over $2,000.

Theater Terrace offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.

Mayor David Bogdala, who helped bring the Theater Terrace about as an alderman, praised the project.

“It fills a critical need of housing. It’s a great place Downtown, great amenities and high quality,” Bogdala said. “It’s very exciting to see. This is the second of three and, as we look at the Downtown, this fits with our master plan.”

The apartment building sits in the district of Alderman Bill Siel, who said it would help fill market demand for new Downtown housing. While the area is also in need of houses, Siel said it “greatly improves the rental options.”

The units are in a prime area, Siel said, with immediate walking access to the lake, parks, restaurants and other Downtown amenities. Additionally, the project developed an “uninviting” parcel of land and will help make the neighborhood community more vibrant.

“I’ve lived right in this neighborhood. The building we’re in represents a significant upgrade in the city space,” Siel said.

The opening of Theater Terrace, and the planned Simmons Terrace apartment building across Sixth Avenue, will also help entice a grocer into the Downtown, Siel said.

Stanton said apartments are open for lease. He praised their partnership with the City of Kenosha through the development process.

“It signifies the importance of collaboration, working together and dedication to bringing a high-quality asset for the community,” Stanton said. “We identified the Kenosha area as one that needs housing … a lot of people want to live here.”
